We do the clearfell along side the plot for 3 times to replace the orginal trees with broadleaves , it would have a wide range of bare land after the operation, which leads to the increase of damaged ground and issue like soil erosion.
In the second scenario, the forest would be selectively thinned in 3 times, in each thinning year the protective actions like soil erosion control and planting fungus would applied. Compared with the scenario 1, selective thinning have lower negative impacts.
Here shows how 12c would be replanted from a conifers plot to a board leaf plot in the next 5 years. Firstly, we do the selective thinning and planting native broadleaf seedlings. These actions would repeat 3 times to fully change the tree species. In the video we provide how AA students and surrounding residents could do to enjoy the forest and giving back simultaneously. Activities in this plot, including forest courses, wildlife tracking, tree identifying and etc.
